Restoration work undertaken by McVey Stone can range from repairing damaged structures, such as bridges or old ruins, to repointing existing stone work. Damage tends to occur to old buildings which date back many years and have been affected by the elements or alternatively through some form of accident. McVey Stone are experts in restoring structures to their original appearance and insist on using stone which matches the characteristics of the original in terms of shape, colour and texture. Just Stone will clean and reuse the original stone where possible to reproduce the appearance and theme.
Repointing is required when the original mortar has crumbled and eroded away from the joints over time. The remaining mortar is removed and replaced providing a fresh appearance while acting to protect and maintain the structure.
